Position Summary
The Uniform & Linen Room Attendant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department. This position is responsible for ensuring that hotel uniforms and linen items are received, inspected, sorted, stored, distributed, and maintained according to hotel quality standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Housekeeping Department, Laundry Department, Food and Beverage Department, Front Office, Engineering, and other operational teams to ensure an adequate supply of clean uniforms and linen is always available. Maintaining inventory accuracy, cleanliness, and organization is an essential part of this role.
Every uniform issued and every linen item prepared contributes directly to the guest experience. Clean and professionally maintained uniforms reflect the hotel’s commitment to excellence, while properly managed linen supports the comfort and satisfaction of every guest staying at the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform a wide range of operational duties, including but not limited to the following:
– Receive clean uniforms, towels, bed sheets, pillowcases, blankets, bathrobes, tablecloths, napkins, curtains, and other hotel linen from the Laundry Department.
– Sort uniforms according to department, employee identification number, garment type, and size.
– Organize and store uniforms in designated storage areas to ensure easy retrieval and efficient daily operations.
– Prepare employee uniforms before scheduled working shifts.
– Issue uniforms to hotel employees while maintaining accurate issuance records.
– Receive returned uniforms and inspect them before sending them for laundering.
– Count and record all incoming and outgoing linen items.
– Maintain accurate inventory records using hotel procedures and inventory systems.
– Monitor stock levels and immediately report shortages or damaged items to supervisors.
– Inspect uniforms and linen carefully for stains, tears, missing buttons, fading, shrinkage, excessive wear, or other defects.
– Separate damaged uniforms and linen for repair, alteration, replacement, or disposal according to company procedures.
– Coordinate daily with the Laundry Department to ensure timely processing of uniforms and linen.
– Ensure all clean uniforms and linen are folded, pressed, and presented according to hotel quality standards.
– Deliver linen and uniforms to guest floors, restaurants, banquet facilities, meeting rooms, executive lounges, spa facilities, fitness centres, housekeeping storage rooms, and other hotel departments.
– Collect soiled linen and uniforms from designated collection points throughout the hotel.
– Ensure all storage shelves, cabinets, racks, and workstations remain clean, organized, and properly labelled.
– Maintain strict cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the Uniform & Linen Room.
– Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory counts.
– Prepare inventory reports when requested by supervisors.
– Support housekeeping operations during periods of high occupancy, conferences, weddings, banquets, festive celebrations, and major hotel events.
– Assist newly hired employees by issuing complete uniform sets and explaining uniform exchange procedures.
– Ensure uniforms are stored according to hotel presentation standards.
– Handle employee uniform exchanges efficiently while maintaining accurate documentation.
– Operate linen carts, garment racks, and other housekeeping equipment safely.
– Follow proper lifting techniques when handling linen bags and uniform supplies.
– Comply with all hotel safety regulations and occupational health procedures.
– Follow fire safety, emergency response, and workplace security procedures.
– Report damaged equipment, missing inventory, unsafe conditions, or operational issues immediately.
– Maintain confidentiality regarding hotel operations, employee information, and internal procedures.
– Cooperate closely with supervisors and colleagues to achieve departmental objectives.
– Provide professional internal service to hotel employees from all departments.
– Participate in departmental meetings, operational briefings, and training sessions.
– Complete additional duties assigned by supervisors or management as operational requirements change.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants who meet the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
– Applicants must be between 18 and 60 years of age.

– Previous hotel experience is welcome but not required.
– Complete training will be provided for successful candidates.
– High school education or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
– Able to communicate in basic English.
– Knowledge of Cantonese or Mandarin is considered an advantage but is not essential.
– Good interpersonal and communication skills.
– Strong organizational ability with attention to detail.
– Honest, trustworthy, and dependable.
– Positive work attitude and willingness to learn.
– Responsible and punctual.
– Able to follow instructions accurately.
– Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Able to work effectively as part of a multicultural team.
– Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying linen and uniform supplies throughout the working day.
– Comfortable performing repetitive tasks while maintaining consistent quality.
– Able to maintain a professional appearance and grooming standard.
– Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when operationally required.
– Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and customer service.
