Position Overview
The Steward Attendant is responsible for ensuring that all kitchen facilities, food preparation areas, dining equipment, and staff cafeteria areas remain clean, sanitized, organized, and fully operational at all times. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Food and Beverage Department by providing clean utensils, cookware, tableware, and kitchen equipment that enable chefs and service teams to deliver exceptional dining experiences.
The successful candidate will work closely with chefs, supervisors, and fellow stewarding team members while following all company policies, food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and occupational health and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of stewarding and kitchen support duties, including but not limited to:
– Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout all kitchen work areas.
– Clean and sanitize the staff cafeteria according to company standards.
– Wash, sanitize, dry, polish, and properly store dishes, bowls, cups, glasses, cutlery, serving trays, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment.
– Operate commercial dishwashing machines safely and efficiently.
– Ensure all kitchen equipment is thoroughly cleaned before being returned for operational use.
– Clean kitchen floors, walls, shelves, storage rooms, refrigerators, sinks, preparation tables, waste disposal areas, and loading areas.
– Dispose of food waste, garbage, and recyclable materials in accordance with hotel environmental procedures.
– Replace garbage bags and maintain cleanliness around waste collection areas.
– Assist kitchen staff by ensuring a continuous supply of clean utensils during peak meal periods.
– Organize kitchen equipment and storage areas to maintain operational efficiency.
– Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages to supervisors.
– Report damaged equipment, maintenance requirements, or safety hazards immediately.
– Follow all food hygiene regulations and hotel sanitation procedures.
– Ensure compliance with occupational health and workplace safety standards.
– Support banquet operations, special events, and large-scale catering functions when required.
– Assist with deep cleaning projects according to the hotel’s cleaning schedule.
– Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
– Carry out additional duties assigned by supervisors or management.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should possess the following qualifications and personal attributes:
– Able to communicate effectively in Cantonese.
– Able to read and write Chinese.
– Previous experience as a Steward Attendant, Kitchen Steward, Dishwasher, Kitchen Cleaner, or Food Service Assistant is preferred.
– Applicants without direct experience but with a positive attitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
– Good understanding of workplace hygiene and sanitation practices.
– Responsible, honest, dependable, and punctual.
– Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
– Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
– Good teamwork and communication skills.
– Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods.
– Able to lift kitchen equipment and supplies when necessary.
– Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
– Committed to delivering high-quality work every day.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates possessing one or more of the following qualifications will be considered an advantage:
– Previous working experience in a luxury hotel.
– Experience operating commercial dishwashing equipment.
– Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
– Experience supporting banquet operations.
– Familiarity with HACCP or other food safety standards.
– Immediate availability for employment.
